Range Rules

  1. All PF&G Members who wish to shoot on the Rifle Range, Pistol Range, Trap Range or other Ranges, must attend an Orientation Class, sign a copy of the Range Safety Rules and Liability Release and obtain a Range Card, before using the Ranges.  This provision is waived for events open to the Public.
     

  2. Only Members may use the Corporation Ranges.  Guests must be accompanied by a member wearing a current Range Badge, unless they are participating in an event open to the public.  Guests are limited to once a year, after which they must become members.  Active duty military personnel, accompanied by a Range Member, are allowed unlimited visits.  Piqua Fish & Game offers free Range Cards for all Active  Military Members with completion of a Range and Firearm Orientation.  A current military ID is required.
     

  3. Guests brought to the any of the Ranges for the purpose of recreational shooting must complete a Guest Range Release and fill in the Sign-in-Sheet.  Guest Range Releases are in the small mailbox at the target shed and both forms are in the mailbox at the Scorer’s stand at the South Trap Range.
     

  4. Public Events:  All persons engaging in shooting sports which are open to the public such as but not limited to; IPSC, SCSA, Trap, Cowboy Action Shooting, etc., shall sign a Range Release.
     

  5. Observe all safety rules.  Always keep the gun pointed in a safe direction; Always keep your finger off the trigger until you are ready to shoot; Always keep the gun unloaded until you are ready to use it; Know your target and what is behind it.
     

  6. Shooters must carry their guns unloaded in a gun case, gun bag or holster securely attached to a belt on their persons.  Shooters carrying their handgun in a holster must have an empty magazine well or an empty cylinder.  Law Enforcement personnel may carry loaded pistols while on duty.
     

  7. Firearms are to be uncased and cased at the firing line only, with the muzzle pointed down range.  When using any Range, firearms, when not in use, shall be unloaded and holstered, or unloaded with the magazine removed, action open and pointed down range.
     

  8. All shooting activities shall be conducted on the appropriate Range; Range 1, Rifles, Pistol Caliber Carbines, and shotguns with slugs only, no shot, Range 2, Pistols and PCCs only, Range 3, (50-yd range), Pistols, PCCs, .22 rifles, and shotguns with slugs only, Range 4, Pistols PCC only, Steel Ranges are for non-magnum Pistols, 22 Rifles and PCCs only.  Steel plate racks are for non-magnum hand gun calibers only. All other ranges are for Cowboy Shooting only.
     

  9. Steel Challenge Targets may only be used with non-magnum handguns, PCCs and 22s.
     

  10. Shoot only at AUTHORIZED targets.  Do not shoot Cowboy Props. Targets approved by the NRA, IPSC, PPC, SASS, USPSA, SCSA and other recognized organizations are approved. 
     

  11. Ground level targets such as swinger targets or dueling trees may be used if placed within 15 feet the backstop(s), in a position that will ensure no projectile goes over the backstop.
     

  12. All shots must be made in a way that they will impact the backstop.  Do not shoot into the ground.
     

  13. Shooting off hand on the rifle range is permitted only for 75 yard and 100-yard targets.
     

  14. No tracer, steel jacketed, or armor piercing ammunition is to be used on any of the Ranges.
     

  15. Fully automatic firearms are not allowed.  No uncontrolled rapid fire is permitted, (Each shot must be aimed.). 
     

  16. Everyone involved in shooting and by-standers must wear eye and ear protection. 
     

  17. Proper attire to protect the shooter from splatter must be worn.
     

  18. Non-shooters are not allowed on the firing line.  Members are responsible for their guests.
     

  19. The minimum age to shoot firearms at Piqua Fish and Game is 7 years old.  Shooters under the age of 18, are required to stay within arms-reach of their parent, adult guardian or Range Officer at all times while on the firing line. Grandparents holding a Range Card may bring their grandchildren an unlimited number of times.
     

  20. No firearms or ammunition are allowed in the Clubhouse. 
     

  21. Shotgun patterning is to be done on the Trap Ranges only.  Targets are to be set 30 yards from the 26 yard, (furthest back), concrete marker with the target placed 30 yards downrange, between the trap houses and approximately 10 feet in front of the trap houses.
     

  22. During the use of the Ranges, NO ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES of any kind are allowed.  ANYONE UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF DRUGS OR ALCOHOL WILL NOT BE ALLOWED ON THE RANGES.
     

  23. Range hours; October through April, Monday through Saturday, 9:00 a.m. till 7:00 p.m.; Sunday, 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.  May through September, Monday through Saturday, 8:00 a.m. till 8:00 p.m.; Sunday, 9:00 a.m. till 5:00 p.m., (never to exceed sunset).  The Trap Range may have evening shooting under the lights, but cannot extend past 10:00 p.m. nor start before 9:00 a.m.
     

  24. There is to be no shooting at wild life.  There is no hunting on PF&G property.
     

  25. No animals, with the exception of Service Animals, may be brought on to any of the Ranges.
     

  26. Shooters are responsible for policing litter, cartridge cases, used targets and backers and any other debris from around their shooting station.  Please put paper, cardboard and wood scrap in the metal burn barrels and plastic and other non-flammable material in the plastic barrels.
     

  27. Any Club Member who knowingly brings a guest to the range for the purpose of recreational shooting who was convicted of a felony or violent misdemeanor which prohibits the possession or use of a firearm will be expelled and banned from the use of the ranges permanently.
     

  28. Club members indicted or charged with a felony, domestic violence or other charges, which could prohibit the possession or use of a firearm shall report the same to a member of the club and will be suspended from the use of the firing ranges until adjudication of these matters.
     

  29. Violations of these rules should be reported to the Chief Range Officer or a Board Member only.  Do not try and enforce the rules by yourself unless there is an imminent danger.  Violations of these rules can be grounds for immediate removal from the range.  Violations will be reviewed by the Executive Board and may result in the loss of membership.
